Bio

Austin Leach completed his undergradaute studies and masters work at Mississippi State University in Mechanical Engineering where he worked under the guidance of Professor Steve Daniewicz. His research was centered on Finite Element modelling of fracture mechanics. After completion of his Masters, he started in the Ph.D. program at the University of Colorado in Mechanical Engineering and transfered to Georgia Tech with Professor Gall in the summer of 2005. Upon arrival he switched into the Materials Science and Engineering program. Austin enjoys coffee, music, dogs and the outdoors.

Research

Austin is the state capital of Texas. Chartered in 1839 as the capital of the Republic of Texas, Austin became the state capital when Texas was admitted to the Union in 1846 as the twenty-eighth state. Austin is now the fourth largest city in the state and the sixteenth most populous city in the nation with around 700,000 people.
